This seems to be an oft-requested feature, but no you cannot. The likely reason is a USB output is 5V and the DSLR battery is 7V, which means it would require an internal voltage converter that would add size and weight to the camera body. I would follow gphoto2, D is not there yet, D is allready there as it is older model. Back in I took few frames with gphoto2 and d Back then there were no viewfinder view, as liveview was not a thing back then and no autofocus with AF-S lenses like nowadays. Things are evolving continiously in opensource world. I believe you'll have a problem - Helicon Remote requires at least a D5x00 series, Lightroom has the same restriction, as do controlmynikon, camerarc, etc.

I suspect the D isn't set up to allow remote triggering. Without having a D to try with, I suspect that if you plug a monitor into the HDMI socket of the camera and shoot in live view, the monitor will show what you would have seen on the rear LCD which is how, I believe, other Nikons do it.

That's only TV resolution, though, and doesn't solve the download problem - but if you want a larger view of what you're arranging, that would do it. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Hey, I have the same issue, but I have another PC with windows 7, and had no problem. Then, I plugged the Nikon D into my Windows 10 pc, and it detected it, but inside the Memory Card folder, which said it was almost full, said it was empty when you were inside of it.

I went to watch the camera, to see if it was empty and wasn't. Then it somehow stopped recognizing it. I plugged the camera into the Windows 7 pc again and won't recognize it anymore. So, I would like to know how to solve this problem, given that the camera is not detected in Device Manager, Hardware and devices, nor anywhere.

I had unique video footage inside, and I wouldnt like to lose it. Thanks in advance.
